Helping Hoops is proud to partner with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to
tackle road trauma and champion safer roads across Victoria.
This partnership will see the TAC become Helping Hoops’ Partner in Road Safety,
activating through a summer holiday tournament featuring six Helping Hoops
programs from across Melbourne. The Helping Hoops Classic, proudly presented by
the TAC, will be hosted at CourtSide in Port Melbourne on Monday 19 January.
Helping Hoops President Erin Wallace highlighted the importance of the partnership
and the shared values between the two organisations.
“At Helping Hoops, we made the decision to partner with the TAC based on the
strong values alignment between our organisations – we both want to support young
people and communities beyond the basketball court.
We’re all about teaching values like responsibility, respect and looking out for your
teammates, and for us, road safety was a natural fit alongside these lessons.”
She said embedding road safety awareness into sporting environments can have a
powerful impact on young people and their communities.
“If this program helps even one person slow down, think twice, or make a safer
decision, that’s one less teammate lost and one less family changed forever.
