Host An Event

Hosting an event is a great way to bring Helping Hoops to your work, school or basketball club while helping us spread the word and raise funds for the charity.
Charity Challenges

Charity Challenges are corporate challenge days with a twist. One of our coaches visits a venue close to your workplace and runs a fun basketball program that focuses on team building, leadership, cohesion and goal setting. Charity Challenges can also include a presentation by our founder, Adam McKay, on all things Helping Hoops.

Charity Shootouts

Charity Shootouts see participants challenge themselves by shooting as many shots as they can in a designated time while seeking sponsorship from friends and family in the lead up. Charity Shootouts range from a school lunchtime right up to an entire day, and are customised to your school, workplace, community group or basketball club’s needs.

School Or Workplace Presentations

Have us visit your group and deliver a presentation! Our founder, Adam McKay, can share with your group how Helping Hoops came to be, the challenges and obstacles faced along the journey, and the plans for growth going forward. Adam’s presentation includes an engaging multimedia component. Our coaches are also available to speak and share their first-hand experience of delivering Helping Hoops programs.

Volunteer

Whether your skills lie on the basketball court, or behind the scenes, we rely heavily on volunteers to keep Helping Hoops thriving. Enquire today to see how you can get involved. Volunteer roles are open across:
Assistant Coaching

Get involved on a regular basis at your nearest Helping Hoops program and help our coaches deliver sessions every week. Some basic basketball knowledge helps, but the willingness to put yourself out there and create positive relationships with our kids is far more important than your hoops prowess.

As a Helping Hoops assistant coach you will:

  • Provide support to our head coaches
  • Understand how to use basketball and sport as vehicles to instil values in children
  • Act as a mentor for our participants both on and off the court
  • Help us create a safe and inclusive environment for all of our participants
  • Be part of a team that supports and communicates with one another
  • Commit to at least 2 sessions per month for a minimum period of 3 months (Employer supported pathway volunteer commitment is for one full school term)
Note that all volunteers are required to hold a current Working with Children Check and successful applicants will be supported to complete a National Police Check.
Behind The Scenes

We are always on the lookout for professionals with a wide range of skills who are passionate about basketball and community, and who want to give back. Currently, we are on the lookout for people with skillsets in:

  • Accounting
  • Event planning & management
  • Public relations
  • Photography & videography
  • Sponsorship & marketing
Events

If you cannot make it out to our programs on a weekly basis, why not join our events team where you will be informed of upcoming opportunities. Help at as many or as few events as you can. We are always keen to see who is out there and ready to help when we need.
