We are pleased to announce that the Victorian Women's Benevolent Trust (VWBT) together with the Grosvenor Foundation have continued their support of Helping Hoops for 2016-17, and have again funded the role of the Helping Hoops Women's Development Coach for the second straight year.
Operation Broken Wing (OBW) is a regional fitness charity movement dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged kids. Originating in Singapore, the crossfit event has expanded to other countries, and October saw the first ever event take place in Melbourne at GW Performance.
Children and young people attending Helping Hoops programs may come from migrant or refugee backgrounds, living in inner-city public housing estates, have an intellectual disability or special needs, or may be socioeconomically disadvantaged in some way.
Helping Hoops aims to build self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging and community, aid social cohesion, instill discipline, develop goal setting and leadership skills, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
