All throughout the current 2014-15 NBL season, local sports retailer Sportsmart have been donating $40 to Helping Hoops for every three-point shot made by Melbourne United. On the weekend, United hit their 250th three, and reached the capped target of $10,000.
The partnership has been a lot of fun, and has created some great content and banter on game days with each three being live-tweeted by Helping Hoops volunteers. For those interested in the numbers:
Games Played: 26
Threes Made: 250
Average Per Game: 9.61
Best Game: 22 ($880)
Money Raised: $10,000
The money raised helps us greatly, and allows us to continue to run our seven weekly programs, and over 300 sessions each year, free of charge for disadvantaged and disabled children.
We would like to thank Sportsmart for their generosity and support over the past 12 months. Thanks also to Melbourne United for their help during the season, and for doing their part by making so many threes in 2014-15.
We will be back later this year with the 2015-16 instalment of the Three Point Community Sponsorship, and hope we can match the success of the current season.
