Luol Deng Holds Clinic in Melbourne for Future Stars

The 2015 South Sudanese Australian National Classic welcomed special guests, Luol Deng of the Miami Heat, Joe Mantegna of Blair Academy, and CEO of the Luol Deng Foundation, Steve Vear.

As part of the 24 Hour Charity Shootout, we were proud to present the Frantic Five Challenge, which saw 8 stars paired together to compete in a free throw shooting competition.

The National Classic is a national tournament organised by the South Sudanese Australian National Basketball Association, and proudly supported by Helping Hoops. It features over 40 teams from all across Australia, and is an important sporting and cultural event for the South Sudanese Australian community.

Children and young people attending Helping Hoops programs may come from migrant or refugee backgrounds, living in inner-city public housing estates, have an intellectual disability or special needs, or may be socioeconomically disadvantaged in some way.
Helping Hoops aims to build self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging and community, aid social cohesion, instill discipline, develop goal setting and leadership skills, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
