Steve volunteers at Helping Hoops Richmond every Thursday, and has been involved since late 2012. Steve enjoys interacting with the kids, the diversity of their personalities, the freedom he feels, and the love of the game shown by Helping Hoops kids.

At Helping Hoops, we use a lot of basketballs! The cost of purchasing balls would be an expense that would take away funds from our free weekly programs for disadvantaged children.
Children and young people attending Helping Hoops programs may come from migrant or refugee backgrounds, living in inner-city public housing estates, have an intellectual disability or special needs, or may be socioeconomically disadvantaged in some way.
Helping Hoops aims to build self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging and community, aid social cohesion, instill discipline, develop goal setting and leadership skills, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
