The 2015 Fitzroy Tournament collaborated with the Spectacle Festival, held by Yarra Youth Services, and saw the Atherton Gardens Public Housing Estate transformed into a carnival full of DJs, artists, food, and, of course, basketball.

Helping Hoops took advantage of the great autumn weather to head down to the 2015 VIVA Youth Festival and run some fun and games for the kids. This was part of the MSF King of the Court 3x3 tournament, and it was great to have our own Coach Mike help as one of the judges of the slam dunk contest.

Children and young people attending Helping Hoops programs may come from migrant or refugee backgrounds, living in inner-city public housing estates, have an intellectual disability or special needs, or may be socioeconomically disadvantaged in some way.
Helping Hoops aims to build self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging and community, aid social cohesion, instill discipline, develop goal setting and leadership skills, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
