We had a great time speaking to the kids at Parkdale Secondary about Helping Hoops and what it's like working in the sports industry. We also found some time to run a special on-court session.

For those who grew up in the 1980s and 90s, Dennis Rodman personified hard work, tenacity, and sheer determination. "The Worm" could not be out-rebounded by anyone else on the court; if there was a board or loose ball up for grabs, you could bet Rodman was going to out-work his opponents and come up with it.


Children and young people attending Helping Hoops programs may come from migrant or refugee backgrounds, living in inner-city public housing estates, have an intellectual disability or special needs, or may be socioeconomically disadvantaged in some way.
Helping Hoops aims to build self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging and community, aid social cohesion, instill discipline, develop goal setting and leadership skills, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
