Dear Helping Hoops community, I wanted to provide an update on Helping Hoops' response to the current situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19). We have been monitoring the evolving nature of this Pandemic and want to acknowledge all the families and communities out there who have had to make hard decisions about their day to day welfare in the midst of such uncertainty.
Helping Hoops is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Executive Director for the independent charity. President, David Koopmans, today announced the appointment of Clinton Meehan to take on the role commencing February 17 after the current Executive Director, Adam McKay finishes this month.
How many free throws could you make in 15 minutes while raising money to support Helping Hoops? That question was answered by hundreds of supporters on the weekend of October 5 & 6 at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) in Albert Park, Melbourne.
Today, we welcome Ben Simmons as our latest supporter. Ben is supporting the Helping Hoops Future program, of which there are three run every week for young people from a migrant and refugee background.

Children and young people attending Helping Hoops programs may come from migrant or refugee backgrounds, living in inner-city public housing estates, have an intellectual disability or special needs, or may be socioeconomically disadvantaged in some way.
Helping Hoops aims to build self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging and community, aid social cohesion, instill discipline, develop goal setting and leadership skills, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
